Your-FamilyTree.com Family History resource pageArchive record offices are valuable resources in discovering your family tree and no more so than the five that we have shown below. Our specialist family tree research areas are Lancashire, Northumberland and Durham and we frequently visit the Lancashire Record office which is based in Preston, Manchester Archives which is in the Manchester central Library, Northumberland Archives which is based in Woodhorn - Ashington, Durham Archives which is based in Durham`s County Hall and Finally the Tyne & Wear Archives which is part of the Discovery Museum in Newcastle. All of these five archive records have helped www.your-familytree.com complete more than 46 family tree research packages in the last 12 months for various clients. By visiting these records offices we have managed to find historical information about family members that had long since been forgotten. There is no better feeling when you inform your client about a bit of their family history but when you actually provide them with hard evidence, such as a newspaper article or maybe old photograph of a workhouse this is when the realisation of your family history sink in, and believe you me; they say a picture can tell a thousand words; when you see family members some as young as 8 working in a victorian workhouse this is when you appreciate your past and you will inevitably want to discover more about your ancestors.
During our many visits to the archive records in the UK, we took the decision to invest in a Microfiche reader, this was due to the fact that we needed to take our family tree packages back even further. Visiting parishes around the country can be expensive for us and inevitably for our clients. By purchasing a microfiche reader we are now amassing a hugh collection of microfiche's and this means more research is being carried out in-house, and this is why we offer one of the best comprehensive research packs on the market today. The archive centres shown below have provided us with many frustrating and rewarding days and are a must if you are looking to uncover the roots to your tree.

Manchester Archives and Local Studies has proven to be a valuable resource for local historians and Genealogists alike. There is a hugh range of material relating to the history of manchester such as old maps, old photographas, books but in addition of this there are collections of old newspapers and directories which can be viewed on a microfiche. Family Tree researchers can also use the microfilm facilities to review parish registers, census returns, electoral registers and probate indexes. |

The Lancashire Record Office is one of our favourite archive places due to the volume of records stored. This record office covers historical documents as you can imagine here coveres the county of Lancashire and the records start from abut 1115 right upto the present day. The staff are very helpfull especially if you are a newbie to a records office and some documents can be copied. As you would expect you can get your hands on local history, old maps, photographs, baptisms, marriages, burials, wills and so much more. |
